10 Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day!

by Jessica Rao, Girl Talk Ambassador

The stores are flooded with bright pink candy boxes, giant teddy bears, and flowers. This can only mean one thing: that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Despite what you may think, you don’t need to be in a relationship to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It can be Galentine’s Day! This is also a day to celebrate your love for your friends and your family. Here’s a list of gift ideas and fun things to do with your friends or family this Valentine’s Day.

Gift Ideas:

1. Handwritten cards

Handwritten cards > store bought cards. A cute card idea is to put a pun on the front of the card with a coordinating drawing. Some puns you can use include…

  • I donut know what I’d do without you
  • You are one in a melon (you can give someone Sour Patch Kids Watermelon to go alongwith this)
  • We make a great pear
  • I love you a waffle lot
  • I’d be muffin without you

2. “Open when” letters

All you have to do is make letters for different occasions like open when you’re happy, open when you’re sad, open when you’re bored, etc… You can put anything inside of the letter that goes along with the occasion. For example, if your friend really likes dogs, then you can put some pictures of dogs into the open when you’re sad letter.

3. The Classics: Candy and/or flowers

4. Cute socks

5. Bake cookies or cupcakes

Fun Things To Do:

1. Have a waffle party

Follow in the footsteps of Leslie Knope by hosting a waffle party for your friends. You can have waffles with a bunch of different toppings, such as strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, whipped cream, etc…

2. Watch romantic movies

Some of my favorites are…

  • To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
  • Crazy Rich Asians
  • The Princess Bride
  • La La Land
  • 13 Going on 30

3. Have a spa night with face masks, manicures, etc.

4. Volunteer

Why not spread the love by going to volunteer at your local animal shelter, soup kitchen, or anywhere else that needs volunteers?

5. Write love letters

More Love Letters is an organization that has people write love letters to people who are going through difficult times.
