Girl Talk Clubs x FYSA (Florida Youth Soccer Association): Empowering Girls in Sports

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH FYSA

Together, Girl Talk and Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) are uniting to expand the reach and impact of Girl Talk’s dynamic leadership development and peer-to-peer mentorship programming through Girl Talk Clubs. Through this transformative partnership, we’re excited to bring the Girl Talk Curriculum to young athletes, helping them strengthen their confidence, explore their leadership potential, and build community both on and off the field.

By creating brave spaces for intentional peer-led mentorship and leadership development, Girl Talk and FYSA are championing the next generation of confident leaders in sports and beyond.

ABOUT GIRL TALK CLUBS

Girl Talk Clubs utilize a peer-to-peer mentorship model and Girl Talk Curriculum to support teen and preteen girls in mentoring younger girls. Girl Talk Curriculum is tailored to promote leadership, authenticity, inclusion, and service among Club Leaders and their mentees.

Girl Talk Club members use Girl Talk Curriculum and resources, empowering Club Leaders to tailor the program to their communities. Club Leaders can choose from 13+ topics and 100+ lessons and resources to best fit their mentees’ needs. Topics include body image, stress management, leadership, diversity and inclusion, community service, and more!

Through sports teams, Girl Talk Clubs allow older players—like captains or team leaders—to mentor younger players through guided conversations, leadership activities, and team-building exercises. Our peer-led model thrives within teams (team lead(s) to teammates), or across teams (older teams to younger teams), highlighting the flexibility of Girl Talk Clubs. These sessions can easily be added to practices or team meetings to strengthen connections, build leadership, and create a more supportive team culture.

Identify your Core 3

Girl Talk Clubs can serve both intimate and large groups of girls because you only need three people to get started!

When determining your major players for your Girl Talk Club, you must identify at least three people: An Adult Advisor, a Club Leader, and a Mentee. For your team, this may look like a Coach or Athletic Director (Adult Advisor, who attends and supports meetings), a team leader like a captain (Club Leader), and a group of teammates (Mentees).

Helpful Tip: Consider having multiple Adult Advisors (perhaps an Assistant Coach) and Club Leaders (like co-captains) to balance out larger Girl Talk Clubs.
