Jessica Capocy

Title:

Lender Development Director

What would you tell your younger self?

Keep working hard, don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.  If you keep doing your job and working hard, you will be rewarded.

What was your major in college and how did you get to the position you are in today?

Biology and then business.  I thought I wanted to be a Dr.  but as I went along I discovered I really had a knack for the bigger picture and quickly changed my direction-  never let your parents desire for you, swerve where you want to go and who you want to be.

What was your inspiration and what helped you become successful? How do you define success?

I had some really great managers who encouraged me to keep learning and doing more.  They recognized my talents and helped me develop them.

How do you balance your work and personal life? Often times one has more importance, and we’re curious to know how you’ve handled the balance.

I know when to walk away and spend time with my family, but still make work a priority at different hours if needed.

What is your favorite quote?

Never regret anything that made you smile.

What’s your favorite part of your job and why?

Working with our dealerships.  I love to hear how they use our products in stores and it helps me see how we can improve their processes.

What is your favorite hobby?

Watching my daughter play sports and my garden.  I love growing different types of plants and bringing butterflies and bees to our garden.

What advice do you want to give the next generation of women leaders?

Be kind to everyone, know we are all not the same and embrace the different personalities and help each other to be better.

What does leadership mean to you?

Being able to provide new growth to a market, reach new people, motivate others to be better.

What’s your advice on mentoring?

I have had a new female mentor every year while at Cox.  I recommend having either a mentor who will be honest with you, or having a friend who can speak to you about business and with candor.

What’s your favorite ice cream?

Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk

Is there any other information that you think Girl Talk members would benefit from?

It’s never to early to start and to late to try.
