Learn A Little Bit About Eliana :
During my freshman year of high school I attended Girl Talk Camp as a volunteer, where I shadowed counselors and interns. The next year I attended Girl Talk Camp again as a counselor and last year I attended the virtual summit. Currently, I am an Ambassador for Girl Talk and plan to get involved with our next virtual summit.
How has being a Girl Talk Leader impacted you?
Being a Girl Talk Leader has impacted me by giving me a voice to influence young girls. My platform at Girl Talk has taught me to be the change I hope to see in the world.
Tell Us About Your Project You Completed :
My project was a food drive. From February 10th to March 5th, my friends and I set up boxes in the counselors’ office and in one of my teacher’s classrooms. Throughout the span of about 3 weeks, we collected items such as non-perishable food, books, toiletries, clothing and gift cards. The following weekend, we transported about 6 full boxes worth of donations to Minnie’s Food Pantry, a local, black-owned, non-profit organization.
How has this project helped to refine and expand your leadership skills?
This project helped to expand and refine my leadership skills because I had to organize and advertise this initiative and communicate my goals with friends and family in order to execute the project smoothly.
